Course Content

This course provides the opportunity for students to develop their Welding skills to an intermediate level. They can choose from one of the three processes offered; MMA, MIG, TIG.

By the end of the course you will achieve certification in your chosen process at level 2 and have gained a sound understanding of the theory behind it, as well as the practical.

This certificate is an internationally recognised qualification from City & Guilds and upon completion of the level 2, you will then undertake a controlled weld test to BS 4872 standard, that is carried out internally.

The CSWTO certification assures that our fully-trained tutors, facilities, equipment and teaching materials meet the standards required by industry. CSWIP Welding Instructors are competent to work according to the main international welding standards.

  • During this course you will be able to:

*Produce welds in either flat/horizontal or vertical

*Work with specified materials, thicknesses and tolerances

*Produce flat plate and cylindrical joints

BS4872 is an industry recognised quality standard that applies to a wide range of general fabrication work where an approved welding procedure test is not required. Welds would usually be carried out in accordance with written instructions and the test weld is subject to visual or surface inspection and a destructive test.

The BS4872 coding is suitable for welders that work in situations such as small to medium building frames and general light structural and non- structural work where an approved welding procedure may not be necessary.

The test weld sample will be marked against the BS 4872 quality standards by a CSWIP welding inspector, to ensure it meet the standard. Certification upon successful completion, is issued by The Welding Institute.
