Prerequisites
Candidates should be appropriately qualified electrotechnical craftspersons, or must be able to provide an employer endorsed letter to substantiate their experience in the relevant discipline.
It is strongly recommended that delegates are able to make off steel wire armoured cable glands when attending modules EX01/2/3/4 and are able to carry out electrical testing for Continuity, Insulation Resistance and Polarity.
All candidates will be expected to record their previous experience and qualifications. Candidates must provide copies of qualifications and photo identification (e.g. Driving Licence, Passport, Identity Card or JIB/SJIB/CSCS Card). All candidates should be appropriately qualified electrotechnical craftspersons, or must be able to provide an employer endorsed letter to substantiate their experience in the relevant discipline. Candidates must sign a declaration to that effect as part of their registration. Prior to the start date of this course, you will be required to send the above documents to our Coordinator.
Delegates not providing the above information may attend the course but will be issued with a non-electrical certificate if they pass all assessments.
Course Content
The course will consist of 2.5 days theory followed by 4 practical assessments with an additional multi-choice exam covering all modules on the last day.
Practical assessment will involve the installation of armoured/braided cables for Non Is equipment and Is equipment, you will also be required to carry out inspections on Non-Is equipment and Is equipment
Candidates are expected to gland and terminate steel wire armoured and braided glands, barrier glands to Non-Is and Is cables; to perform safe isolation procedures and to be familiar with continuity & insulation resistance testing.
During the course, a digital photograph will be taken to upload the appropriate information to the CompEx database. This information is required to enable the CompEx certification to be recorded, and the photograph will be included on the certificate. Please note, competency cards are no longer included as part of the certification but can be purchased separately via the CompEx store
