Course Content
The emphasis throughout this, Human Element Leadership & Management (Management level), course is to develop an understanding of human factor concepts and understanding of how managerial actions influence, for good or ill, the practical application of those concepts. This understanding, properly applied, then enhances the safe operation of the ship and the care of all persons on board. Aimed primarily at senior officers and those seeking management level certification, this course also provides invaluable training for shore-based staff and non-deck or engineering personnel, such as pursers or hotel services people.
This is a five-day multi-activity course that provides delegates with a programme of approved training to use leadership and managerial skills to control the operation of the ship and care for persons on board at the management level.
The Management Level course is designed to comply with the requirements as set out in the IMO mandatory requirements in tables A-II/2 and AIII/2 of the Manila amendments to the STCW convention and code 1978, as amended (2010).
The course meets the Management Level syllabus requirements contained in the MNTB syllabus and as accredited by the MCA.
The course is of significant benefit to shore-based staff whose working routines involve regular contact with seagoing senior officers.
There is a continuous assessment throughout the length of the course.
