Course Content
This programme, Supervisor Newly Appointed, is designed for anyone who has just been appointed or is about to be appointed as a supervisor.
We will help you understand the role and responsibilities required of you. We have taken out all the “management jargon” and kept everything straight forward and easily understandable.
The training we provide is done in a way that will allow you to put it straight to use. At the start of each session, we quickly review how you got on and as a group we will learn from each other’s experiences.
During the programme, we will provide you with a course of action to take and over time you should begin to see how things fit together which will hopefully start to build up your confidence.
We will be working on two fronts:
– The things that will enable you to do a good job (task-based)
– Skills you will require to become a good supervisor (skills-based)
If you want to get a good start in your new role this is a course you should consider.
Being a newly appointed supervisor can feel very daunting. People often feel isolated and unsure of how to progress. Some lack the confidence to lead and might feel intimidated having to communicate with strong-minded individuals.
This programme is to help you prepare and build the foundations of what it takes to become an inspiring leader and effective supervisor.
We will provide you with the knowledge and tools you need to get started at this early stage of your supervisory and management career. Over the 6 modules we will look at:
– Different strategies you will need to adopt to move forward
– Techniques for motivating and coaching your team
– Develop your skills and confidence
– Set up plans and get them implemented
– Maximising the use of your time
You will be working with a group of like-minded people at the same career stage as you, so you will be learning together, sharing and overcoming issues as a group, picking up tips and supporting each other as you develop.
There is no practical assessment for this course, but there is homework set, with review and feedback from the Tutor, Tom Yeung.
