Lowestoft has a strong Maritime heritage and the college has close links to the Maritime and Energy industries. Its specialist Maritime provision attracts many international students for STCW certificate of competency accredit by UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency, as well as supporting the growing needs of the East of England’s renewables sectors. Current facilities include Navigation Bridge Simulation, Electronic Navigation simulator, Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) simulator, Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) simulator and Oil Tanker simulator as well as Survival at Sea training where a range of severe weather conditions are simulated in a dedicated environmental pool.
East Coast Training Academy also provides a range of international, national and regional training using the state of the art Kongsberg simulators.
